  • The Cats Protection League is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming stray and abandoned cats and kittens.  CPL CATTERY WILL BE CLOSED ON ANZAC DAY, TUESDAY 25TH APRIL One of the cats available is SOLO. Solo is about 13 years old and has been returned to CPL care as he was not getting along with one of his new housemates. Things were getting tense and he was beginning to spray. Solo is a friendly, talkative elder who loves sitting on laps but can have a little attitude. He will be best, at this stage, as an only cat. Solo is getting a little stiff in the joints but still enjoys his daily yoga :-) Adopting an older cat can be very rewarding and they make great companions. As they are less active they tend to spend more time indoors and are less likely to get lost or injured. They are particularly suitable for owners who are themselves less active and/or spend most of their time at home. Solo has been vet checked, desexed, tested for feline aids and feline leukaemia, wormed, defleaed, microchipped and vaccinated. Our cats are not free: 1-7 years old cost $90, 8 years and older cost $70. Please note that we do not have Eftpos available but we do accept payment via internet banking. We will always take Solo back if it does not work out. We can be contacted on 384 0006 and will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding Solo or any cat in our care. Visit our website www.cats.org.nz to find out more about the adoption process and our Facebook page for adoption news. The cattery is situated at 14 Charlesworth Street, Woolston and is open from 11.00am to 2.30pm Tuesday to Friday and Sunday and from 11.00am to 3.00pm on Saturday.

  • Poppy, the mother, is a frisky, healthy tabby - very friendly, and likes cuddles. House-trained, of course. Her son, Tui, is black with a white shirt and paws, and is very handsome. Both cats have been well treated and fed, and have been taken to the vet a few times over the last few years for check-ups. Neither have any serious diseases or medical conditions, and may be expected to live for a while yet. Their owner is in a nearby retirement village.

  • his is our man Bossanova, or more lovingly known as Boss. His story is a bit of a tear jerker but there are both sad & happy tears. Sad because of the state he was in before he was welcomed into the Passion4Pawz family but unbelievably happy with how far he has come.  He was rescued by one of our lovely foster mums. He came to her as a red raw very sore boy. Years of neglect had him with practically no fur, raw and bleeding on his undercarriage. All it took was a visit to the vet to find he had a fungal infection. After some meds and love he has put on loads of weight and growing hair again, so we can already see he is going to be a golden boy. Bossanova is about 4 years old, and guessed to be a Shar-pei x.  His nature is the most gentle and loving we have seen in a long time. He is very toy focused and loves to play. At only 4 years old, Boss is an old soul. With time and patience (and toys) however, he will come out of his shell. Boss is a real home body and would love nothing more than a home where he can just hang out with you while you watch TV or lounge by the fire on those cold winter night. A daily walk will do for this man as long as he has you by his side. Loves to snuggle up and hold hands in the evening while I wind down and take in a bit of telly. Boss is best suited to a home with older children and he is not suitable in a home with other animals. Now for the heart tugging bit – Bossanova also has his own pet, because he is such a loving guy. Meet his pet rock Rocky. These two are not able to be separated so if you are opening your home & heart to Boss you get to have the joy and love from Rocky too. Don’t worry though, Rocky is toilet trained and doesn’t require much exercise ;) All of our dogs are destined to be family dogs, that will sleep inside. Owner occupied is preferred. The $280 adoption fee helps us cover the cost of desexing, registration, microchipping, vaccinations & for flea and worm treatment while waiting for their forever homes. If you would like to contribute towards the other costs of getting Boss back to good health donations can be made directly into our vet account - Carevets Mt Wellington - 12-3197-0001907-02 using Passion4Pawz as a reference. Please email passionforpawz@gmail.com for an application pack if you are interested in meeting Boss (& Rocky).

  • A friendly young dog was begging food scraps and looking worse for wear when Rachel found him at an isolated Auckland dog park. He was very thin and suffering hair loss through a severe flea infestation. When she opened her car door for her own dog after their walk, the stray jumped in and wouldn’t budge. Rachel named him Pablo and contacted us. With no collar, micro-chip or neutering, we weren’t surprised when nobody came looking for Pablo - we believe he was abandoned. We bathed him, had him vet checked, chipped, vaccinated, de-sexed, nails clipped, etc and soon fell in love with his enthusiastic, even-tempered nature. This happy, affectionate boy is a Labrador X thought to be about three-years old. He loves walks, going to the beach, fetching sticks and human company in equal measure and enjoys playing with other dogs. Having experienced starvation, he is also pretty keen on food and treats. Pablo has recovered well; his coat has grown in and he is now a healthy weight. We are looking for a home for Pablo where he will be with a human companion most of the time. Due to his energy and strength, he would be most suitable for an individual, couple or family with older children. In order to tighten up his recall and to encourage bonding with his successful applicant, a series of group dog training classes are a condition of Pablo’s adoption. Pablo will be a fun, loyal and loving companion. After his ordeal, we very much look forward to placing him in a home where he will be cherished for the rest of his life.

  • We need to find the best of homes for this little guy.  Did You Know His people moved overseas and we took him at the last minute. He is affectionate, playful and very smart. Unfortunately, our situation is not the best for him and is causing him some anxiety. We have two big boisterous dogs which he finds a bit overwhelming and he tries to stop them playing. He is fine with our little Foxy/Jack Russell though. He is used to being the only animal in his house and for his eight years lived with two adults. He would be best in a quiet environment, with no children and with someone who is home based. He needs lots of walks (very good on the lead) and loves to play fetch. He is super healthy;our vet said he is in great condition. He also needs someone who doesn't mind him creeping onto the bed in the morning for cuddles as this is what he does with us! He is also okay with confident cats. He is not keen on going in the car but once you lift him in, he is fine. He has made huge improvements as initially he would lie on his back and tremble. He responds well to treats!! If you think you can offer this gorgeous guy the right environment then please contact us!!

  • Finn needs a high energy playmate who loves to run and play. He's a fun guy who gets on well with other dogs and cats, but may be a bit boisterous for little kiddies or anyone delicate. He would be best with a strong one on one owner as he needs leadership. Would have the energy for a working dog but would need more training for that.
